Badger Setts and Building Work: Expert Mitigation for Commercial Sites

Badgers and construction projects can present a complex challenge. Where a badger sett is identified on or close to a development site, work may need to stop until appropriate mitigation is in place.

At 360 Wildlife Control, we have an in-house Badger Specialist with the expertise to manage the process from initial survey through to sett closure, helping commercial construction projects progress safely, legally and with minimal disruption.

Our Badger Sett Mitigation Process

1. Identify & Survey
We identify any badger setts on or around the development site and carry out a detailed survey to confirm their status and location.

2. Natural England Licensing
Where required, we obtain the appropriate licence from Natural England before any sett closure or exclusion work takes place.

3. Install Exclusion Measures
Covers, gates and specialist netting are carefully installed to prevent badgers from returning to the sett while allowing us to monitor activity.

4. 24/7 Monitoring – 21 Days
The sett is monitored continuously for 21 days to establish that the badgers have successfully moved on and that no animals remain within the sett.

5. Sett Closure
Once the monitoring period is complete and the appropriate conditions have been met, the exclusion measures are removed and the setts are closed, allowing building work to continue.
